Summary
Because of this Japan walked out of the league of nations. The doctrine however, had no effect on Japanese aggression towards China and other nations did not provide the support needed for the doctrine to have any significance. the doctrine was criticized on the grounds that it did nothing but alienate the japanese and japan went on to bomb shanghai.
